Donkey Sanctuary

The Aruban Donkey Sanctuary, where the animals can live in a protected environment, became reality in 1997. It’s located in Bringamosa and has 130 donkeys.

Nowadays there are fortunately between 40 to 50 donkeys walking around free. They live in groups of 2 to 126 animals. Donkeys are the largest “wild animals” in Aruba, and are no problem at all, as long as they do not endanger traffic.

At the donkey sanctuary, ill, maltreated and weak donkeys are daily taken care of by volunteers. This is done thanks to fundraising activities, donations and the adoption program. main.arubandonkey.org
